September 16, 2009

I’m at work and have a few minute before lunch so I thought I’d try something new! I’m working full-time in Toronto, back at Surrey Place Centre, as an ASD Consultant. ASD stands for autism spectrum disorders. I was at Surrey Place Centre (right near Women’s College Hospital) eight years ago and now I’m back! Our office for this division is down the road from the main building at 210 Dundas (at University and Dundas) so there’s lots of places to choose from for lunch!

I leave the house at about 6:30 am to get here for 8:00 and I’m back home at about 6. The commute is kind of crazy but I take the Go Train in so it’s not bad…much better than the 401.

I’m still teaching at Durham College (Friday mornings) and WeeHands is still jugging along. Angelo has been given some WeeHands duties (website and shipping) and I’ve hired a part-time assistant, Daniella. She was a CDA student of mine last year at the college.

The kids are doing great! I’ve included some photos of both of them. Joshua is in grade four…how did that happen! And Sabrina’s in grade two. The photo of Sabrina was taken on the first day of school. She got up with me and was ready by 6:00 am! Joshua slept for as long as he could.

The photo of Joshua was taken on the GO train coming back from dinner out in Toronto. Do you notice that he’s wearing glasses? We had his eyes tested last year and they were fine. We noticed this past school year that he complained of headaches in the winter. We asked his teacher is she noticed anything regarding his eyes and she said she hadn’t noticed a problem. The optometrist says he’s got quite a loss for someone his age. We got this pair at the Great Canadian Superstore. He was thrilled when he put them on, “Daddy, I can read the signs!” Angelo and I felt awful – he’s got bad vision genes!

Angelo is supply teaching. He’s been at one school in the afternoons all this week and last. He’s also had a few mornings slotted in as well. He’s feeling guilty that he’s not supplying full-time but I’m trying to get him to realize that working from 8:30 – 3:30 is better for the kids since I’m in Toronto now. If he just does supply teaching he won’t have to worry about report cards, extra-curricular stuff, etc. (less headaches and more time for the kids). He’s working on the working-less concept.

This fall Sabrina is in ballet and Joshua will be playing basketball. Angelo’s also going to be in another play…he has the lead! We’re keeping busy during the week and laying low on the weekends (until hockey and skating start in the winter!). I’m going to head out to lunch now so more later!
